The Bartholf Hose Company. “The Call to Serve”

The Bartholf Hose Company. “The Call to Serve”
In 1883, Loveland’s fire service took form as the Bartholf Hose Company. “The Call to Serve” is a life-size bronze firefi ghter statue created by sculptor Austin Weishel for the Loveland Fire Rescue Authority. It was commissioned to honor those beginnings and was installed at Station 10 in Johnstown in the 2534 development and unveiled last week. The figure is shown in a moment of command. The speaking trumpet is raised as he calls his company forward toward the fire. It shows leadership from a time before modern equipment and formal systems, when the fire service rested on one thing: duty to the community.
