Monday, the Milliken Community Food Pantry (part of the Weld County Food Pantry system) opened in a new building located behind the Milliken Presbyterian Church. Volunteers Jim Betts and Debi Sauer stand amid the offerings. The building was a retired asset of the RE-5J School District who gave permission to the superintendent to give it to the MCFP. The MCFP then got a grant from the Weld Trust and help from Leprino Foods to move the building and set it up for business. The Pantry is open four days a month, on the 1st and 3rd Monday and Wednesday. Monday hours are 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Wednesday hours are 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Pantry serves about 80 families from the area every day they are open.
