With friends like these … Front Range Fire Rescue recognized four young boys who acted quickly and helped their friend after he fell out of a tree and seriously injured his leg on Memorial Day. During the incident, one of the boys called 911, one stayed with his friends to provide care and keep him calm, while the third ran to get parents. “In a moment of crisis, each boy took responsibility, worked together, and did what needed to be done,” said Fire Chief Ryan Roberts. “Their courage, compassion, and teamwork helped ensure their friend received the care he needed.” The firefighters who responded to the call were there to honor them and even took the boys out for ice cream afterward. The first day of summer is this Sunday, and what better way to kick it off than with a “Community Neighbor Nights.” A special collaboration between the Thompson Rivers Parks & Recreation District, the Johnstown Community YMCA and the Town of Johnstown, the event will be held this Friday night from 6 to 9 p.m. at the YMCA. There will be face painting, backyard and carnival games, volleyball, a bounce house and more, including food trucks and live music.
