With solemnity and the plaintive soundtrack of bagpipes, the local VFW Post held a Memorial Day ceremony Monday at Johnstown Cemetery, recognizing those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Due to high demand, Thompson Rivers Parks and Rec have opened 40 more spots for a free fishing clinic and derby this Saturday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Centennial Lake (next to the MAC) in Milliken. This event is open to ages 5-15 and is in partnership with the Colorado Department of Wildlife. Clinic topics include: laws and regulations, casting, knot tying, fish identification and conservation, ecosystems, angling, as well as fish handling and cleaning.

Bait and fishing poles will be available for free on a first come first serve basis while supplies last. Prizes will be awarded for a variety of categories. To register, go to: https://bit.ly/trprfi shingclinic.
