On the afternoon of August 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family, Doris Eleanor Lewis passed away peacefully at the home of her granddaughter, Ashley, in Milliken. She was 85 years old.

Doris’s story began on October 29, 1939, in the small town of Berthoud, where she was born to William and Lillian (Cook) Zoller. Growing up in Berthoud, she developed a strong work ethic, a love for community, and a knack for finding joy in life’s simple moments. She graduated from Berthoud High School in 1957 and went on to attend Barnes Business College in Denver, where she sharpened her skills for the professional world. After completing her studies, she began her career in the accounting department of the Rio Grande Western Railroad, a job she took great pride in.

Her life changed forever on January 31, 1960, when she married Ronald Lloyd Lewis, the love of her life. Together, they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage, building a life rooted in hard work, mutual respect, and deep devotion. They raised their children in Galeton, where they owned and operated a dairy farm. Life on the farm was busy and demanding, but Doris poured her energy into both her family and the work, creating a loving home while also keeping the dairy running smoothly. She later worked for EFTC (later Kodak) and, in later years, assisted her daughter Vicki with her in-home daycare before retiring.
