KITCHENS

KITCHENS

With hearts full of love and sadness, we announce the passing of Garry Carlton Kitchens of Johnstown. He departed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on the morning of August 4, 2025, in Washington.

Garry joined his beloved wife, Helen, after 91 rich years of life.

Born March 30, 1934, in Sacramento, California, to Homer Nelson Kitchens and Ruth Booth Kitchens, Garry had four siblings and joined ROTC during his youth. He attended BYU and served his first of six LDS missions to the Western States where he met Helen. He later went on to serve in the U.S. Army and work as an insurance adjuster. He enjoyed woodworking, motorcycles, football games, and, of course, ice cream.

Garry was known for his kindness and chivalry. He cared devotedly for his family and traveled the world with an adventurous spirit.

He is survived by his two sons, Brent and Andrew; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held August 9 at the Johnstown Cemetery. An ice cream social followed. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to your local Stake Mission Fund in care of Young’s Funeral Service, 102 E. Charlotte St., Johnstown, CO 80534.

Friends and families are encouraged to share photos and memories at youngsfunerals. com.
