On May 6, 1948, at the age of 16, she married Sam Frank in Denver. They farmed and fed cattle in the Johnstown, Milliken and Platteville areas for 50 years. They were blessed with three children: Sammy Lee, Diana Kay and Kathryn Marie.

Viola was a faithful member of the Milliken Presbyterian Church for many years and served as a Deacon and Elder as well as with the Women’s Aid Group. She loved decorating her home for the holidays and matched each occasion with homemade food and a wide variety of desserts, including her pies, cookies, fudge and signature German chocolate cake!

Viola was always proud to be a farm wife and embraced all of the hard work that went with it. She instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of good, quality produce and beef and making sure that it was shared out to friends, family and strangers.

Thankful to have shared her life are her daughters, Diana (Larry) Morris and Kathryn (Robert) Hillman; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Frank; four grandchildren, Jessica (Anthony) Eulberg, Phillip and Paul Frank, and Chelsea (Arthur Perez) Hillman; three great-grandchildren, Leigh, Perry and Cooper; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam; her son, Sammy; her granddaughter, Deni Lee Pann; and her three sisters, Mazie Sinkhorn, Leona Pierce and Violet Silver.

Viola’s Life Celebration will be held at 10:30 a.m. August 12 at the Milliken Presbyterian Church, 201 S. Olive Avenue, with a luncheon to follow. Interment at 2 p.m. at the Mizpah Cemetery, in Platteville. Memorial gifts may be made to the “Milliken Presbyterian Church” in care of Young’s Funeral Service, 102 E.
