Jeff grew up on the family farm outside of Milliken and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1989. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving boot camp in San Diego and then in Desert Storm, receiving an honorable discharge and returning to Colorado.

He worked for Royal Disposal trash company and helped his friend, Mike Durrant, with his roofing business. Jeff was very artistic, drawing and coloring, and was a talented musician, playing the guitar, drums and keyboard by ear.

He is survived by his mother, Marilyn; sister, Vicky (Brad) Gilmer; his nieces and nephew, Brock Gilmer (Kait Yaste), Rebecca Gilmer (Wyatt Wernsman) and Braylyn Gilmer; aunts and uncles, Phyllis Schmidt, Pat and Ron Kindvall, Susan Schneider and Joye Schneider; as well as numerous cousins and their families and his kitty, Abigail.

He was preceded in death by his dad; grandparents Schneider and Bernhardt; uncles, Leroy Schmidt, Dick Schneider, Kenny Schneider and Chuck Schneider; aunt, Kay Schneider; and an uncle who died as an infant, AJ Bernhardt.

Jeff’s family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. July 24 at the Milliken Presbyterian Church. A Life Celebration will be held at 10 a.m. July 25 at the church. Interment to follow at the Johnstown Cemetery with a luncheon following at the church.
