Walston passed away peacefully after a short illness. She was born to
Gustine and
Dora (Reimer)
Fiechtner
in a house in north Johnstown. Alice spent her childhood growing up in Elwell, before moving into Johnstown.
Alice’s mom died when she was 6 years old. Her father abandoned her at this time. She was raised by her grandmother, Susan Reimer, and her uncle Ruben Reimer until her aunt and uncle, Gus and Dora Fiechtner adopted her. Alice married Larry Walston on June 26, 1970, in Brighton. She was a homemaker for most of her life. Alice was a member of the Johnstown Baptist Church and later attended the Mesa Baptist Church. Alice and Larry lived in Johnstown until they moved to Mesa, Arizona, where they lived until health problems brought them to Colorado. Alice and Larry enjoyed taking vacation trips all over the U.S. by car. They took many trips to the Rochester, New York, area to visit their daughter, son-in-law, and their grandchildren.
Alice is survived by her two children,Andrew (Denise) Walston of Windsor and Rosemary (Martin) Baker of Perry, New York; and two stepchildren, Leann (Rick) Hursh of Loveland and Richard (Victoria) Walston of Pittsburg, Texas. She had six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Marlene Mikels of Longmont and Joan Logue of Pueblo West. Alice is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Larry Walston; her parents, Gustine and Dora (Reimer) Fiechtner; her biological parents John and Ester (Reimer) Rothman; and a baby brother, Timothy Rothman.
Alice lived for her children and grandchildren.
Her passing will leave a void in all our lives.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in August. At that time, Alice and Larry will be laid to rest.
