ARIZMENDI

He moved from state to state, working for farmers and landed in Milliken. It was there he met Martina L. Quintana. They were married on September 28, 1952. Together they made a beautiful family of five daughters and two sons.

Gilbert worked for Great Western Sugar Factory, Monfort Meat Packing Plant and as a landscaper in his later years.

He loved dancing with Martina, watching the Broncos, going fishing, camping trips with the family to Lake John, playing Bingo, playing cards (especially 31), doing bead work, watching Family Feud and making jewelry. He also loved working in his yard and lending a hand to anyone who needed help. He was a member of the Milliken Senior Center for many years and enjoyed their outings to Black Hawk and playing pool with friends. He loved having his children and grandchildren over for breakfasts, dinners and holiday celebrations. He also loved attending his kids and grandchildren’s activities and was very proud of all of their accomplishments.

Sitting on his porch was where he would spend lots of his days, waving to the neighbors and people as they drove or walked by on his busy street. He was also a great cook, making tortillas, so- papillas, tamales and menudo with Martina for his family.
