BRICENO
BRICENO

Joe’s life was a testimony of faith, perseverance, and unconditional love. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose kindness touched countless lives. On November 13, 2013, Joe married Catherine Knauff, after the two met at the Senior Center in Johnstown. Together they shared many happy years filled with faith, laughter, family, and cherished memories.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine Briceno; his daughters, Tina Anima (Antonio) of Topeka, Kansas, and Santina Hernandez (Johnny) of Milliken; his son, Elax Gonzales of Ardmore, Oklahoma; and his stepsons, Mike Krueger (Shiela) of Minot, North Dakota, and Troy Krueger of Nebraska. He is also survived by his brother, Reynaldo Briceno (Connie) of Johnstown; his sisters, Janey Garza (Johnny) of Eaton, Bochie Montano of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Lucy Ortiz of Greeley; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Joe was a proud and loving grandfather to Brandy Griego, CJ Jr., Emilio Briceno (Stacia), Le’Yhanna Linton, Zah’Kyah Linton, Esmeralda Arreola, Miguel Arreola, Nuvea Arreola, Anneliesse El- worthy, Cala Schmitt (Davin) and Heather Garnett (Chris). His great-grandchildren held an especially special place in his heart, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Jose Briceno; and his brother, Severiano Briceno.
Those who knew Joe will remember his infectious sense of humor, his unwavering faith, and his willingness to help anyone in need. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan who enjoyed being outdoors, taking long drives while listening to music, visiting the drive-in, and trying his luck at the casino. Yet above all else, Joe’s greatest passions were his faith and his family.
Joe was known by many as a true prayer warrior. His gift for prayer was extraordinary, and he never hesitated to pray with or for someone who was hurting. Whether family, friend, or stranger, Joe offered encouragement, compassion, and a steadfast reminder of God’s love. His faith never wavered, even through life’s greatest challenges. Throughout a long and difficult battle, he remained strong in his belief, never losing sight of his identity as a child of God. Even in his final days, Joe’s humor shined brightly, bringing smiles to those around him until the Lord called him home.
Joe leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, generosity, and service. His light illuminated the lives of many, and while his presence will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort knowing he is at peace in the arms of his Savior.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23 Joe’s family will host a Celebration of Life Service on October 9 at 10 a.m. at Grace Community Church in Johnstown. A reception will immediately follow the service.
The family invites all who knew and loved Joe to join them in celebrating a life well lived, a faith well kept, and a man whose love and prayers will continue to inspire generations to come.
