MORRISON

Kristi Lavern Morrison returned home to the Lord on September 30, 2026, at age 60 after a three-decade long battle against Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Chronic Pain. She was born Kristi Lavern Jakel in Greeley on May 20, 1966. She is a 1984 graduate of Weld Central High School and also graduated with an associate degree in Office Management in 1986.

Kristi married Matthew Morrison on November 28, 1998, in Greeley. Kristi was the VP of operations for Morrison Engineering for 28 years and worked in the vinyl industry in Berthoud for 20 years. She grew up on a farm in Keenesburg, Colorado, before ultimately ending up in Johnstown, where she lived with her husband and raised her five children before recently moving to Sterling to be closer to her younger grandchildren.

Kristi loved collecting blown glass, spending time with her kids and grandkids, the cult classic TV show Firefl y, quilting, diamond art, and coloring with her granddaughters. She was an avid supporter of World Vision and loved helping kids across the world. But most of all she loved spending time with her husband of 28 years.

She is preceded in death by her father, James Jakel. She is survived by her husband, Matthew Morrison of Sterling. Her mother, Karan Jakel of Loveland. Her three sons and one daughter-in-law: Kasey Hayes of Windsor, Brad and Paige Ivy of Parker, Colorado, and Jacob Morrison of Harlan, Iowa. Her two daughters and one son-in-law: Tessa Hayes of Loveland and Erin and Blake Clary of Sterling. Her six grandchildren: Sam Hayes, Matthew McKay, Rheagan Clary-McKay, Kaiden Clary, Molly McKay and Macy Clary. Her sister, Trisha Casey of Fountain, Colorado, and brother, Rick Jakel of Greeley. Her nieces and nephews: Jim, Tabitha, Jennifer, Bailey and Max. As well as two grand nephews and two grand nieces.

If you feel moved to do so, please donate to any suicide prevention organization of your choice or World Vision in her memory.
