Gordon Gerald “Jerry” Kilgore, 94, of Milliken passed away in Greeley on July 9, 2026. He was born June 30, 1932, in Denver to Gordon and Norma (Large) Kilgore and at the age of 8, the family moved to Milliken where his father was a blacksmith.
Jerry graduated from Milliken High School in 1950 and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy on June 25, 1951, receiving an honorable discharge on June 16, 1955. He returned home and became a Telephone Technician with Mountain Bell before joining the family business, Kilgore Supply Company. They sold the business and he retired in 1999. He worked odd jobs including Ace Hardware in Johnstown and Bomgaars in Loveland.
On February 14, 1982, he married Joann Arlene Hardy in Denver and they raised her three children, Stephanie, Sam and Stacie. He loved his Milliken community and served in various ways. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Milliken Fire Department and served as Chief for 20 years, served on the Milliken Town Board, the Milliken Fire Board during the construction of the new Milliken fire house, and was a member of the Loveland VFW.
He loved his firetruck collection, woodworking, garage sales, fishing with the grandkids and visiting with people. He never knew a stranger.
Thankful to have shared his life are his wife, Joann Kilgore; children, Greg Kilgore, Stephanie (James) Lutter, Sam (Angelina) Hardy and Stacie (Mark) Thomas; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Hice, Reed, Ryan and Logan Lutter (Morgan Lovelace), Sam (Brianna) and Steven Hardy, Adria (Cole) Hoffman and Amber Thomas (Caleb McDaniel); three great-grandchildren, Amelia, Grayson and Silas; sister-in-law, Colleen Kilgore; and nieces, nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Marla Jackson; and his brothers, Ray and Donald Kilgore.
Jerry’s Life Celebration will be held at 10:30 a.m. July 20 at Grace Community Church, 2033 W. South First Street, in Johnstown with a reception to follow. Interment at 2 p.m. that day at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
