Margaret Olive “Peggy” Collins, 88, of Johnstown died on June 23, 2026, at Medical Center of the Rockies. She was born March 7, 1938, on the family farm in Johnstown to Alvin John “Dutch” and Dortha Clare (Ricord) Schwalm where she was raised and graduated from Johnstown High School in 1956.

She married Hubert LeRoy Collins on September 14, 1958, in Loveland. 

Peggy worked for the Carnation Company in Johnstown for several years before starting with Public Service in 1977 at the Fort St. Vrain plant. She retired and went to work for her husband at Collins Auto Brokers in Johnstown. 

She enjoyed gambling, traveling with her sister, Jane, and reading. She loved animals, always having a dog or cat around the house. 

Thankful to have shared her life are her children, Kelly Germolus and Mike Collins; her sister, Jane Eden; her brother, Donal Schwalm; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hubert, in 2018; and her brother, Denis Schwalm. 

Cremation with a private graveside inurnment will take place at the Johnstown Cemetery. Peggy’s Life Celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 24 at Dreams & Dragonflies Event Center in Johnstown.
