Johnstown died unexpectedly May 13, 2026, at Medical Center of the Rockies. He was born April 1, 1971, in Denver to Melvin Wayne Woolsey and Lynda Janice Vaughn.

The family moved from Denver to Missouri and then back to Grand Junction where he later met Lynette Dawn Nix. They married on January 15, 2000, in Las Vegas.

Gary and Lynette moved to Johnstown in 2003, where they built their home and he did all the interior finish work and cabinetry. He owned The Trim Reaper, creating beautiful and custom woodwork creations.

He loved his Colorado sports teams, cornhole, camping and jeeping, but most enjoyed time with his grandkids.

Thankful to have shared his life are his wife, Lynette; children, Micah Crisler, Jasmine (Elliot) Christensen, Shekinah Crisler (Jordan Grado), Chelsae Krogman, and Jacobi Murray (Jack Gibbs); 12 grandchildren, Roman, Selena, Neriah, Leili, Ezra, Niam, Easley, Ellianai, Joaquin, Lanai, Omri and Kylo; his mother, Janice Murray; siblings, Veronica (Alex) MacLagan, Stefanie Jenkins and Larry Murray; as well as nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his dad.

The family will host a Life Celebration on June 4 at Dreams & Dragonflies Event Center, 5194 CR 50, in Johnstown, and invite you to bring your favorite stories to share.
