‘Cemetery Crawl’ on Halloween

It’s that time of year again when ghosts and goblins come out of hiding and into the hearts of those people who attend the Johnstown Historical Society’s annual Cemetery Crawl.

This beloved event first became an idea in 2003 when JHS volunteer June Grelle featured the history of the Elwell Cemetery and a handful of local residents buried there, and Matt Lubich from The Johnstown Breeze told the story of the infamous Schenk family murders. The second rendition was staged the following June, and then it went silent for several years before it was resurrected from the grave in its present form in October 2018.
