DA reviewing JPD officer incident

The Larimer County District Attorney’s Office, with assistance of the Fort Collins Police Department, are investigating the incident of a Johnstown Police Department officer who allegedly showed up for work intoxicated.

William Ward, at the time a sergeant with the JPD, is accused of showing up for work at the Johnstown PD substation in the 2534 development – which is in Larimer County – in his police cruiser smelling of alcohol and with glassy eyes the morning of May 28. According to reports, after other officers became suspicious, Ward agreed to take a breath test to measure his blood alcohol content and registered a 0.107 BAC – over the 0.08 BAC for a DUI arrest. Another test administered several hours later showed his BAC to still be over the limit at 0.097.
