Around Town

Around Town
He’s never scored a touchdown, he’s never made the basket with seconds to go to win the game, but Roosevelt High School’s “Teddy” mascot is an important part of creating school spirit. Recently, the high school held tryouts for a new Teddy. Got a picture for Page 3? An item for Around Town? We and our readers would love to see them. Send them to [email protected]. It’s that time of the year again. Halloween is just around the corner. To help you make some spooky stuff, the Johnstown and Milliken public libraries will host a whole cauldron of events this month. October 8 at 5 p.m. the Johnstown library will offer the chance to make Halloween Fridge Magnets that are sure to stick around all year. That same night, at 5:30 p.m. at the Milliken library, bring an old thrift painting and spook-ify it with painted ghosts, jacko’- lanterns, creepy critters, and other ghoulies. On October 9 in Johnstown at 11 a.m. you can use the Makerspace to create a pair of “sugar skull” earrings. On October 13 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. the Johnstown site will host drop-in jack-o-lantern carving at the library. No registration is necessary for the events, with the exception of the thrift painting, which you can register for online.

Congratulations to Liam Burack and Juliette Sauer, who were crowned Homecoming King and Queen at last Friday’s football game.
