The Weld County Fair started in 1918 as a gathering place for farmers and ranchers to showcase their labor and animals. These roots run through our Roosevelt High School FFA members who exhibited their livestock this summer. These students dedicated themselves to their livestock projects, putting in long hours to ensure their animals reached maximum potential by building a strong bond and ensuring they received the highest level of care.
Through members’ hard work, they learned perseverance, animal welfare, determination, and so much more. Students who exhibited their livestock at the Weld County Fair are as follows: Kara Ashlock with her outstanding first place commercial cow-calf pair. Sammy Kimbriel also received first place in her Dairy Cattle project. Rilee Joseph earned first place in her market steer class, two first place finishes with her market swine, reserve champion lightweight dark cross hog, two second place class finishes with her heifers, and a class fourth place light cross swine. Colton Fields got first in his class with his heavyweight dark cross market swine, sixth in his lightweight dark cross class, and sixth in class with his Yorkshire. Tuc Trumble earned a reserve champion light cross hog. Adian Robinson went above and beyond with his second place goat, third place sheep, and a fifth place hog. Dakota Bernard placed second and fifth for her light-weight dark cross hogs. Maylin Bernard placed third with her Duroc. Addison Tellez placed fifth in the horse project.
