MILLIKEN – The Board of Trustees met February 25 for their regular meeting where they discussed the creation of the Milliken Events Festival Committee, intended to replace the current Milliken Events Committee.
The Milliken Events Committee is a volunteer-run group that puts together events like Beef ‘N Bean Day and the Festival of Lights. A few weeks ago, the board discussed having the town absorb the committee’s responsibilities to streamline planning efforts, consolidate funds and to ensure the committee’s work will be continued in the future. Trustees found the ordinance to create the Milliken Events Festival Committee agreeable, except for a portion that required that a board member serve on the committee. Ordinance 2026-837 wrote that a board member and a town employee be required to serve on the committee.
