JOHNSTOWN – At three different recent Town Council meetings, residents voiced their opposition to attracting data centers to Johnstown. Critics said that it would hurt residents’ quality of life and that the drawbacks outweighed the benefits.
Back in September 2025, Johnstown Mayor Michael Duncan said he wanted to turn Johnstown into a “hub” for AI technology in Northern Colorado during a town council meeting. At this same meeting, the council was presented with the option to hire a consultant who would work on attracting an artificial intelligence data center company to Johnstown. However, the contract failed to pass.
