Around Town

Around Town
Earlier this month, the Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, women educators, met for their annual Christmas brunch and were able to donate 16 purses to Jess from The Women’s Place, a domestic abuse shelter. These purses are packed with essential items for women who may have to leave with nothing but the clothes they are wearing. Jess is shown in the back row, fifth from the left. This tradition is 10 years old and is a highlight for the Kappa members, as well as the recipients from The Women’s Place. Got a picture for Page 3? An item for Around Town? We and our readers would love to see them. Send them to [email protected]. Photo provided by Robin Denman

Welcome to that weird week between Christmas and New Year’s, Breeze Nation. We hope you had a Merry Christmas, whether you went over the river and through the woods to grandma’s house or stayed home for a quiet day. It’s still not too late to load up the car and the kids and take a tour of the local lights.

Kudos to Johnstown Town Council members Dee Anne Menzies, Dianne Morris, Chad Young and Andrew Paranto, who took time out last week to serve lunch and hand out Christmas gifts at the Senior Center. How is that for defi ning “public servant?”
