Breeze unveils new website

The Johnstown Breeze

Digital readers of The Breeze will have the chance to view the paper’s newly redesigned website for free beginning this week.

The site – www.myjohns townbreeze.com – has been redesigned by eType Services of Austin, Texas. To give readers a chance to check out the new site, the paywall has been removed until December 1.

“We’re excited to be working with EType Services,” Breeze co-owner Matt Lubich said. “This company is specifically geared to help smaller community papers like the Breeze with their digital product, and we look forward to bringing their wealth of knowledge and expertise to our readers.”

The new site will contain news, sports, opinion pieces and life events such as obituaries as in the past. Subscribers (after the paywall goes back up) will also be able to view a digital edition of that week’s newspaper as well as view the site from their cell phone.

“We’re still a big believer in the fact that print is still alive,” Lubich said, “but the new site, in conjunction with our print paper that has been publishing since 1904, will give our readers even more options how they get their news each week.”

Current subscribers to the website will be contacted about access to the new site.

“We have no doubt there are going to be some growing pains and some glitches,” Lubich said. “We ask our readers to be patient as we work through those with the staff of EType Services. And while we work through those, we encourage everyone to check out the new site and give us feedback.”

The Breeze will continue to offer a variety of subscription options, including print only, digital only and print plus web.

To subscribe, call 970587-4525. Questions and comments can also be sent to Lubich at mlubich@johns townbreeze.com.
