Around Town

Around Town
Lillian Designori (left) and Elizabeth Langley, along with other volunteers from Roosevelt High School Interact Club, pack foodstuffs for the Johnstown Community YMCA’s “Hunger Heroes” program that provides food to students in need. With food insecurity on everyone’s lips these days, the YMCA is also hosting a food drive throughout the month supporting local food banks and individuals and families. Most needed items include: Nut Butters, Canned Tuna & Chicken, Canned Fruits, Cereal & Oatmeal, Soup & Stew, Baby Food & Formula, Pasta & Canned Sauce, Beans (Canned or Dry), Rice and Canned Vegetables. Please donate packaged, non-perishable items, and avoid glass containers. Got a picture for Page 3? An item for Around Town? We and our readers would love to see them. Send them to [email protected]. With Thanksgiving coming up we’re all starting to think of that big dinner. Never Lost Nonprofit and Pat’s Project have teamed up with Lazy Dog Restaurant in Johnstown. They will be serving a full Thanksgiving meal to the community. Bring yourself or bring your family. Maybe you don’t have family in town? Maybe the loss of SNAP benefits has you struggling this holiday? The group asks for nothing in return, just for your company. They will be serving food from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. All are welcome. Please them at 111 E. Charlotte St. in Johnstown.

The Johnstown Historical Society is looking for Nativities from the community to display at the Parish House as part of its Holiday Open House on December 6, from 1-4 p.m. Email [email protected] for more info, or call 970587-0278.
