The Town of Johnstown is planning a Cemetery Clean-Up Week the first full week of October. Families with loved ones in the cemetery are asked to ensure flowers and decorations meet town guidelines, as any items outside of those guidelines may be removed during the annual maintenance and clean-up. Allowed with care: Crosses, shepherd’s hooks, and trellises (up to 3 feet tall) may be placed around headstones. These may stay until they become worn or unsafe. Historic crosses will be reviewed individually. Christmas lights and solar lights are also welcome. Not allowed: Tinsel, balloons, fences, chairs, and any obstruction in the grass more than 12 inches away from headstone or top of plot as they can create litter and safety hazards.

Congratulations to Town of Johnstown Finance Director Kristyn Unrein, who recently achieved the distinction of Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The program is designed to prepare individuals for leadership positions in state and local governments by enhancing fundamental skills and increasing knowledge of best practices and standards in public finance.
