Around Town
Making it a bit better start of school for some students, the Johnstown/Milliken VFW Auxiliary put a supply box at the local 2585 Post. The Auxiliary was able to distribute school supplies to Milliken Elementary, the pre -school, Milliken Intermediate School and Roosevelt Middle School. “We are always happy to help our communities,” said Auxiliary President Olivia Eldred. Kudos to the Auxiliary and all who donated. Got a picture for Page 3? An item for Around Town? We and our readers would love to see them. Send them to editor@johns townbreeze.com. It will be a re-election of incumbents in November for the Weld RE-5J School Board. The district reported this week on its website that current board members Monica Johnson (District A), Amanda Proctor (District C) and Michael Wailes (District E) will all run unopposed for their seats. The election is November 4.

We had several readers ask what was with all the sirens and emergency lights Sunday night in the Country Acres subdivision behind Hays Market? Town Communications Director Samantha Knowlton tells us there was an automobile-pedestrian accident. The accident involved a juvenile who was hit while riding a scooter in the street. The child was transported to the hospital to be checked out. The juvenile did not sustain any serious bodily injury, and the driver of the vehicle was issued a citation for Careless Driving Causing Injury. Since the case involved juveniles, Knowlton said, no future information will be released.
