Around Town

Around Town
This past Sunday a free community square dance event took place at the YMCA. There were 57 guests from Cheyenne, Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland, the Denver area and Johnstown and Milliken. The event was sponsored by the northern Colorado area council of clubs, Mountains and Plains Square Dance Council, and the Johnstown Community YMCA. It was hosted by the Johnstown square dance club Foot and Fiddle. Classes will be starting in early September at all the northern area clubs. Square dancing is family friendly, good for your body and mind, and affordable. If you are looking for fun, friendship and fitness, why not give square dancing a try? Foot and Fiddle will host a free chili supper scheduled for the community at the Johnstown Senior Center on September 8 at 6 p.m. For more information about Foot and Fiddle, contact [email protected]. Kudos to the Johnstown Police Department and Front Range Professional Firefighters Local 5400 who recently presented a check for $1,284.60 to the Roosevelt High School Athletic Department. This generous donation was made possible through the “Battle of Badges Softball Tournament” where our local heroes stepped up to support our student-athletes. The funds will be allocated directly to help students cover athletic fees, making sports more accessible to all.

We received this note from Marlys Mitchell: “What a wonderful surprise to see my picture on the front page (of the August 7 issue of The Breeze)! I am so honored and thankful! At 94, what an ending to a long and great life – gonna make it to 95 or more!” We are honored to call you friend, Marlys!
