Johnstown resident Larry Smith and co-demonstrator Kathy Kane stood on the corner of South First and Parish Avenue peacefully demonstrating on June 14, as a part of No Kings Day. Smith said that they had a supportive response to their presence saying that there had been lots of honks and waves. A couple of people even went so far as to go to their places of work and bring coffee back to Smith and Kane. Allison Killaly of Johnstown took this photo and sent the following comments, “It struck me as a thoughtful and meaningful gesture, especially given an issue that resonates with many people, regardless of political affiliation. I snapped a photo and thought it might be worth sharing in case it encourages others to get involved or speak up in their own way.”
