Julie Cozad of Milliken, a former Milliken Town Board member, has been named to a nine-member Weld County redistricting committee. The committee, made up of three Republicans, three Democrats, and three Unaffiliated/ Third Party voters, will be charged with developing three commissioner district maps for the board to review and approve by July 30.
The county has been required to redraw the commissioner districts after the Colorado Supreme Court found that the county’s redistricting in March 2023 failed to meet the requirements set out by state law. Under Colorado Revised Statute, boundaries for county commissioner districts must be redrawn based on data from the most recent United States Census. The redistricting advisory committee is charged with creating district boundaries for consideration and approval of the redistricting commission (the Board of Weld County Commissioners).
