April 19, Roosevelt High School hosted one of the biggest track meets of the year, famously known as the Randall Hess Invitational. This meet has been held annually since 2008, and this year about 46 other schools were able to attend. The day was filled with many events all around and turned out to be a huge success. The Roosevelt Rough Riders started off strong with the boys 4x800 Relay Team finishing 8th overall.
The girls 100 Hurdles was held, and junior Braelyn Bailey boosted the Roosevelt name as she was able to finish in 5th place. However, Bailey didn’t stop there. Later that day the girls High Jump event began, and being a former high jump state champion, there was no doubt that Bailey was going to excel. She ended up finishing first with a height of 5 feet 6 inches. Bailey also participated in the girls Triple Jump during the meet and placed 5th with a length of 34 feet. As the season is halfway through, Bailey still has some big goals set for this year.
