Members of Milliken’s Love Thy Neighbor Community Church were surprised recently to learn that an impromptu fund raiser planned just a week earlier had raised a substantial amount of money for a Milliken family of modest means facing onerous medical expenses.
The small and young-butfast growing congregation relied almost entirely on wordof- mouth publicity to attract donors to an outdoor pulledpork barbecue sandwich and soft drink party. As the open areas around the church began to fill with cars, pickups and motorcycles, the tiny voluntary staff was proportionately challenged to meet the need.
