HESS

HESS

Kerry Mark Hess, 67, of Johnstown passed away April 8, 2024, at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette. He was born on December 15, 1956, in Greeley to Randall Eugene and Patricia Ann (Winchell) Hess and grew up in Johnstown.

Kerry graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1975 and went on to work for the Jones Company and Johnstown Feed & Seed, later working for Agfinity until his retirement.

On February 9, 1980, he married Elaria Alvarado. Together they had four sons: Nathanel, Jeremy, Jarrod and Damien.

On March 19, 1994, he married Michelle Sue Ottinger and they celebrated 30 years together. A few years after being married, Kerry and Michelle welcomed daughter Kaitlyn to the family.

Kerry spent the majority of his life in Johnstown where he followed in his father’s footsteps, coaching several baseball, basketball and girls softball teams. Kerry felt it was important for kids to grow up involved not just in sports, but any extracurricular activities, as they taught teamwork, responsibility, dedication and the rewards of hard work. He enjoyed golfing, watching sports, reading romance novels and history/ westerns but most enjoyed time with his family, especially following the activities of the grandkids.

Survivors include his dad, Randall Hess; wife, Michelle Hess; children, Nathanel (Katie), Jeremy (Sarah), Jarrod (Katrina), Damien (Ashley) and Kaitlyn (Tony Laguardia); 12 grandchildren, Treyvor, Reyleigh, Dominic, Mariah, Nevaeh, Serenity, Rylan, Audrina, Urijah, Zayne, Tenly and Korwin; his sister, Christy (Jeff) Nelson; nieces, Brigette (Kim) Torgerson and Brooklin (Jon) Conklin; and a nephew, Brandon (Kacie) Nelson and their families.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Pat; and a grandbaby, Drevon.

Kerry’s Life Celebration will be held at 2 p.m. April 24 at the Johnstown United Methodist Church with a reception to follow. The family asks that you may honor Kerry by wearing your Colorado sports team’s attire. Livestream: https://youtube.com/ live/QgeDrZ_Ct8E.
